Update: July 2020
Since my last "life status context" update, I have completed my education at Ethnos360 Bible Institute, worked for half a year, went to New York to marry a pretty cool cat (just kidding, he's allergic), and have commenced packing both of our lives up to move to Missouri for the next step in the missionary training regime.
Life is wild. Like ohmywordIgotmarriedandI'mhappyaboutitbutatthesametimeI'mterrifiedbecausethisisrealcommitmenttoarealperson kind of wild.
Some things never change. Like Sufjan Stevens popping up on every internet radio I ever listen to, even though I never put him down as an artist that I like.
For the thirty people that have even looked at this page, you can now subscribe to newsletters from Tan and I. Just scroll all the way to the bottom of the blog and you'll spot the little subscribe button. Just do it.
I still have big love. I still have big sad and big care. God still carries me through all of the big feelings and events and stuff and things.
Until next time,
Vivian
Update: May 2018
Well, honestly, I forgot I’d made a “read this first” post, so there’s that. Since I forgot, this update is a solid six months late. No big deal.
So where am I now?
I’ve been back in the States for six months already! Time has flown by incredibly fast. When I first returned, I spent a few months in the great Empire State with my family. That time was essentially to getting reoriented with Western life, finding a vehicle, and spending quality time with my grandmother.
After Christmas, it was time to make good on a commitment I made before leaving the Philippines. Bills paid and car packed, I headed for Ethnos360 Bible Institute in Wisconsin. One semester down, three to go. I’m focusing on absorbing as much as I possibly can during my time, prepping for the day God sends me back out into the world. It might be South Asia, it might not. The best part is that God knows and I can trust He’ll show me when the time is right. Not a minute too soon, nor a moment too late.

November 2016
Oh hi!
You found me. And just in case you don't know who "me" is, I'll tell you. I'm your average 20-something millennial lady, looking to serve God wherever I happen to end up. Turns out, I ended up in the Philippines. I moved my apartment from Columbus, Ohio to my parents' attic in central New York and hopped on a plane early November 2016. My hope is, now that my host family and I are in a decent enough routine, that I'll be able to share some of the crazy adventures God throws our way.
My host family. (Code: the entire reason I moved here in the first place.) New Tribes Missions (NTM) has an awesome ministry/program that allows their missionaries to request home-school helpers. For mission families that live in remote areas and have limited access to a structured schooling environment, NTM will help organize a home-school teacher to give the family a hand educating their children. That's everything in a nutshell and I'm blessed enough to be that hand for the next year. It's my pleasure to be teaching S in Grade 4, J in Grade 2, and B in Pre-K.
Now your stage is set. Sit back and get ready to read. Hopefully. As long as I remember to update.
